The First Guests

The first holidaymakers spend their vacations on the family farm. Even then, guests are captivated by the surrounding Allgäu mountain landscape – with Neuschwanstein Castle, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, creating a truly iconic backdrop.

A Step Towards Modern Comfort

The Helmerhof takes an important step forward. Rooms are modernised and equipped with running hot and cold water for the first time – a significant improvement in comfort for that era.

The New Helmerhof Emerges

Christoph and Josef Helmer open a guesthouse with a daytime café. This marks the beginning of the Helmerhof as it is known today. From the very start, a deep passion for hospitality and regional roots defines the concept.

Taste & Atmosphere

The daytime café evolves into a restaurant. Christoph brings his love for cooking and regional ingredients into the kitchen. The Helmerhof continues to develop, always with an eye on the future.
The entire Helmer family is involved – from reception to housekeeping. What guests experience is genuine warmth, dedication and a strong sense of personal connection.

The Next Generation’s Path

Corbinian and Sophia begin their training in gastronomy and hospitality, while Melanie is already actively involved in the family business. Modernisation follows throughout the hotel.

Corbinian completes his studies at Heidelberg University of Applied Sciences with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. The next generation is ready to carry the Helmerhof forward – with fresh ideas and deep respect for what has been built.

The Helmerhof – An Allgäu Hideaway

Corbinian Helmer takes over. What has proven itself remains, while much is rethought. A new concept emerges that reconnects the Helmerhof with its origins: a place of calm, arrival and genuine encounters.

Looking ahead, the focus is deliberately placed on the guesthouse. The à la carte restaurant opens only for special occasions, events and selected moments. A conscious structural shift ensures that the Helmerhof continues to evolve – rooted in tradition, shaped for the future.
